10 Tips to create a Strong Password

Most people have multiple passwords for e-mail accounts, social networking sites, online banking, site memberships, and so on. With so many passwords people may think it is easier to simply use the same password, or to use passwords that are easy to remember such their Phone number or a relative's name. But Passwords are the first line of defense against cyber crime. You should make sure you have strong passwords for all accounts on Internet. It’s very crucial to pick strong password.

The following 10 tips will help you to create strong, secure and hacker-proof password -

  1. LENGTH - Passwords should be eight or more characters in length. The longer the password, the harder it is to crack.
  1. COMBINATION - Use a combination of uppercase alphabets {ABC.. }, lowercase alphabets {abc..}, number {123…} and symbols { !&@^|.. }. Using all four types of characters works the best. For example instead of using welcome use W3Lc0mE^9.
  1. RANDOMIZATION - Use special charcters and uppercase letter randomly not just in starting or ending like "pcj@bGq" instead of "Pcjbgq@"
  1. COMMON INFORMATION - Avoid using common information like birthday, phone number, address which is known to all.
  1. MEANINGFUL WORD- Don't use proper or meaningful words or simply speaking dictionary words since they are easy to crack down. Rather use password comprised of random meaningless characters.
  1. PATTERN - Never make password comprising a pattern like QWERTY or ABCD or 789.
  1. ACRONYM - Generate a password as a acronym from a phrase of your choice such as " Earth is the 3 planet of solar system" and use the initial of each word like this :"Eit3pss", coz Acronym are easy to remember and difficult to guess.
  1. REVERSE - by reversing, a simple password can be made hard to crack like “erolgnab" in place of "banglore".
  1. ALTERNATIVE - Use alternative for some letters like 3 for e, $ for s, 0 for o .
  1. DRAWING - You can make letters, shapes, and more just ’drawing’ on the keyboard like "cft6yhnji9" forming N on Keyboard and Throw in some random caps to really lock it down.
